How to Play - You are my Sunshine

Today we learnt how to play some notes on the recorder. It was very very hard to play it. Also it was so yuck because Miss King had washed it. Then we tried to play You Are My Sunshine. We tried to play together but we sounded terrible. Now we have to practice lots more. And one day we will be able to  play You Are My Sunshine.

My little Garden

Yesterday we planted Little Gardens with Gigi. First we chose my  little garden. My colour was purple and I got flowers. I placed my soil in my tray and we got to get 50ml of water  then it grow before my eyes.  Then I smashed the soil and I put it in my tray and i put my seed in my litte garden.

And i put the remaining soil. In my litte garden. I had to wet to i goed and we side thekyou gigi for the garden.

Space Art

This week room 13 made cool pictures about space.We dew and painted rockets and planets. We had to be careful, take time and and work hard. We learnt it was ok to make mistakes. To finish off we added some glitter. We feel amazing about our pictures.

Little Red Riding Hood

I I have been working hard to learn how to use iMovie. My friends and I filmed the story of Little Red Riding Hood with our teacher. I was the grandma and it was fun to dress up as her.
We learnt to do green screen, add voice overs and even a Garageband.  It was hard work and my teacher helped us a lot to learn lots of new skills.

My Planet.

My planet is called Rainbow Land and me,and Miss King made it. It is so beautiful and I love you Miss King. Me and Miss King live there and be beautiful. There is air to breathe. All day long we play and learn at school.

Our Trip to the Bush

The Bush

Today room 13 went to bush. We started to collect sticks to make a tree house. I worked with Osa,  Teejay and Siosiua. We worked together as a team. The mud was so fun I got so muddy. Miss king said it was time to go to class and it was so fun. I love Miss.

Cross Country.

I was covered in mud  and i crossed the finish line i never Wanna do that again.As quickly as i could i ran through the muddy grass chasing my friend. Out of breath sore legs my heart was beating so fast but i never gave up. Filled with energy i started to the finish line.It was a hot and sunny and we were waiting for aur cross country race. I was feeling nervous while i sat on the concrete. We lined up and were ready to race

Stardome

On Wednesday team 3 were at Cornwall Park and we visited the Stardome to learn about space.

In the Stardome I learned about how the sun is so hot it can burn me up I will die. After the stardome. Team 3 had lunch and then me and Siosiua played on the train. And then I played touch with my Friends and it was fun. I love you Miss King.

Place Value.

Shadows

If an object blocks sunlight the place behind the object is dark. This is called a shadow.

The size of the shadow depends on the angle at which the light is falling on the object. Your shadow keeps changing throughout the day. It is longest in the early morning and the late afternoon. At midday, when the sun is overhead there is little or no shadow at all.

The Moon

The Moon was probably made 4.5 billion years ago when a large object hit the Earth and blasted out rocks that came together to orbit round the Earth. The Moon is much smaller than the Earth. It is airless, waterless and lifeless. The gravity of the Moon, causes two high tides on the Earth every day.

The first person to walk on the Moon was the American astronaut, Neil Armstrong. He stepped out of his space craft, the Eagle, on 21 July 1969 and said these famous words, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”.

My rockets has wings and super engines exploding as they boosted off. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 It is ready for blast off. We are ready to fly to the moon.

The Sun

The sun is the largest star in our solar system, however there are many stars like it in the wider universe. The earth is just the right distance from the sun that our planet is not too hot or too cold. The light from the sun takes 8 minutes to reach earth and gives life to plants.  Astronauts will never be able to land on the sun as it reaches 5500 degrees celsius - 100x hotter than humans can stand.

The sheer size of the sun means that its gravitational pull forces all the planets in our solar system to orbit around it. Born 5 billion years ago, the sun has been producing heat and light for a very long time.

Superheroes

All the superheroes had colourful costumes of all variety. Captain America had a stripy and shiny shield.
 With powerful weapons they were ready to save the world.

Pirate Lego Writing

One day some pirates were guarding their treasure on an island.

Suddenly,a soldier came in his blue boat.

He was angry because the pirates had stolen his treasure.

He wanted it back.

As he rowed toward the island he saw a green crocodile to get to the treasure The pirates were ready to B

attle. One of the pirates was holding a sword and a telescope.

Forces on a Kite

Gravity is the force that pulls everything down to the earth. Gravitational force pulls everything to the centre of the earth. The bigger the mass, the larger the gravitational force. Without gravity we would all float off into space.

Drag is the force that slows the movement of an object through air or water. As a moving object pushes the water and air out of the way, the water or air pushes back on the object. This drag force is always opposite to the way the object is moving. The drag force increases as the object moves faster.

Thrust is the force that moves an object. When flying a kite, the thrust comes from wind. The thrust must be stronger than the drag to make the object move.

In a plane, thrust comes from your legs.

Lift is the upwards force on the kite. Lift is created by air flowing around the kite. The different speeds of the air flowing around the kite make it lift into the air.

Long ago the sky was dark and had no stars.

Deep in Lake Taupo lived a scary taniwha who ate people when it was dark. One day Tamarereti woke up he felt really hungry. Tamarereti went out fishing and caught lots of fish. He fell asleep and his waka drifted to the other side of Lake Taupo.

Tamarereti was hungry so he cooked his fish. It was dark and he was scared of the taniwha, but he had an idea. On the beach lay many shiny pebbles.

Tamarereti gathered as many pebbles as he could hold and set off in his waka.  As he sailed back to his village, Tamarereti threw the shiny pebbles into the sky where they settled to become the stars of Matariki.

On the first day of term we made kites. Miss King gave us no instructions and we could only choose three materials. All of us had problems creating our kites. Some of us gave up and some of us made something. No ones kite flew. We have lots to learn before we can make a kite that will fly.

Beach Trip

On a stormy Tuesday the weather was pouring. My class got into mufti clothes, lined up and ran to Pt England Beach. We ran because we were so excited and also because it was raining. We ran to the cliffs to get clay. We made clay balls and we started to play clay fights. It was fun because I was getting muddy and hit with clay.

Under the water I swim to the other side. Swimming under the water to island I kicked

hard. The best part  was when i got splashed by Gabriel.

The Rain

All night long the rain slammed on to the window.

Pouring down outside, the rain soaked the the washing.

Quickly the litte stream turned into a raging river.

Across Auckland people cleaned up their houses.

Picnic

On a hot sunny day Pt England school went to the beac for a picnic the the sand was full with children and they splashed in the water. Mud squelched under our feet and crabs bet our flngers. I enjoyed play with my frlend and i had so much fun.

Bike Track

Last week we went to the opening bike track with my class we walked in a line

On Wednesday we lined up at the gate with team 3 We went to clean this disgusting creek.

First we walk to the horrible creek it is smell stinky like mr Moran's armpits.

Next we went to the farm and picked up terrible rubbish and we saw a horse. Finally we went to play tag on the park before we went bake to school.

The Bird

Dear Bird,

How did you die? We bless you with all of our heart.

We were walking in the morning on our way to the park when we found you. So Jermaine asked Mr Shaw for a shovel to take care of you. We wanted to take care of you because you are God’s creature.

Lee took the shovel and scooped you up gently. We carried you to the farm and we stopped under a tree.

Anthony started digging the hole, then everybody had a turn. Finally we put you in the hole and Lee said a prayer for you.

We all walked nicely back to our class.

We love you and we hope that you rest in peace and live with God.
